Noah and Allie, the well-known characters ofThe Notebook, had a love so unbreakable that they even died in each other’s arms. If you thought that type of a romance only happens in fiction, Kenneth and Helen Felumlee will make you change your mind.
The Ohio couple, who met as teenagers, eloped after two years of dating. Kenneth and Helen were so eager to get married, they couldn’t even wait two days for the former to turn 21 – the legal age to wed in Ohio at the time.
Kenneth and Helen went on to spend 70 years as a happily married couple having eight children, 23 grandchildren, and 43 great grandchildren. They never fell out of love making sure to hold hands every morning during breakfast.
Their children also said they always had a feeling that when one of their parents passed away, the other would surely follow.
And that’s exactly what happened.
In 2014, Helen passed away at the age of 92. Her 91-year-old husband followed only hours later, much like the loving English pair who also passed away on the same day.
“Fifteen-and-a-half hours after mom passed, dad went to be with her,” their son said.
